Child seriously injured in Columbia, Maryland, car accident

Last week, a 1-year-old child was hospitalized for serious injuries after the infant was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Columbia, Maryland. The child’s mother was driving when their vehicle struck a school bus with two children onboard. No one on the bus was harmed in the accident.

As of last week, police were still investigating the accident in order to determine what caused the school bus and vehicle to crash. The accident occurred on the morning of March 27. Although the child’s injuries were serious, reports stated that the child was recovering from the car accident.

Police reported that the child was in a child safety seat when the accident happened. Police also reported that the school bus crashed into the rear passenger side door of the vehicle. Police did not say whether charges will be filed against the bus driver or the child’s mother.

No parent wants to see his or her child in pain, and no parent in Baltimore should have to because of someone else’s reckless actions or negligence. Although children will suffer numerous injuries from the time they start walking, children should not have to suffer serious injuries in car accidents or other types of accidents that are preventable.

When a child does suffer an injury because of someone else’s negligence, parents may need to make sure they protect their child’s rights and future by filing a personal injury claim against the negligent party.

A child injury may cause long-term health complications, and a child may struggle with learning and other activities when an injury is suffered at a young age. Children need all the help they can get when recovering from serious injuries, and one way parents can make sure their children get the medical treatment and support they need is to file a personal injury claim to recover compensation for these expenses.
