When we take to the road, we expect other drivers to be responsible behind the wheel. However, dangerous factors such as speeding, texting and driving and driving under the influence continue to present hazards on our roadways. We preach safety and responsibility and write tickets to drivers who break the law, but sometimes it still isn't enough to prevent an accident.
Last week, a 1-year-old child was hospitalized for serious injuries after the infant was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Columbia, Maryland. The child's mother was driving when their vehicle struck a school bus with two children onboard. No one on the bus was harmed in the accident.
More than 40 states hold businesses partially accountable for drunk driving accidents when crashes are caused by patrons who are over-served alcohol by businesses. However, Maryland is not one of those states.
